Raku is a clay firing technique. We will make things by handbuilding with clay on Day 1, then glaze and fire them in the raku kilns on Day 2. Firing involves heating the kiln with gas, and once the right temperature is reached the work is taken out of the kiln and placed in a container with combustibles.

The Makerspace has 3 types of raku kilns, one converted electric kiln, one trashcan kiln, and a microwave kiln for small items. Raku is for decorative items only, it is not food safe.

To check out, select your Day 1 and Day 2. The charge for the class is $30 for members and $50 for nonmembers.
